London requires English Language Test for Uber Drivers

Uber is facing new trouble in Europe. This time, Public Transport Body for London (TfL) wants to require Uber drivers pass an English language test among other regulations that it originally intended to implement Oct. 1st.

However, Uber has now won the right to take TfL to court in order to challenge these possible new regulations.

HEDLINE: Macat closes $30 million Angel Round

Macat, a London-based edtech startup that is working on an online learning platform and critical thinking tool, announced that it has closed a $30 million Angel Round. Macat previously raised an undisclosed $20 million from a group of angel investors.

Founded in 2012, Macat works with leading academics who create accessible analyses and multimedia content of seminal texts like The Art of War, Capital in the 21st Century, Clash of Civilizations, The Selfish Gene or The Second Sex.

The new funding will be used to add more content to the platform and for global expansion.

FUNDED: MyTutorWeb raises £1 million

MyTutorWeb, a UK-based online tutoring startup, raised £1 million from a group of private investors.

Founded in 2012, MyTutorWeb has taken over 20,000 bookings from 4,000 pupils in the UK and abroad. The platform has signed 900 top undergraduates as tutors and charges £18 per hour.
