European EdTech raised over €65m in Q3 2016

In the third quarter of 2016, investments in European education technology surpassed €65 million coming from over 39 investors across 22 deals. The majority of deals (17) was closed in September.

Report: European EdTech Investments increased sevenfold in Q2 2015

In the second quarter of 2015, edtech investments in Europe increased sevenfold, from €9 million in Q2 2014 to over €62 million total investment in Q2 2015.

Report: EdTech Funding in Europe up 95% in Q1 2015

During the first quarter of 2015, edtech investments in Europe are up 95%, from €11.9 million to €23.2 million compared with Q1 2014.

The number of deals grew 72% from 12 to 19, the average amount invested in Q1 2015 was €1.5 million.

The strongest month was March with nine investments total, followed by February with eight, and January with two rounds.

London and Berlin lead the European Startup Scene

According to a study by EY published in German newspaper Die Welt, London is leading when it comes to VC investments in Europe. But that could change as Berlin is gaining ground rapidly.

EY took a look at investments between early 2013 and September 2014. In that period 187 tech startups in London raised investments, followed by Berlin with 145 venture rounds. Paris comes in third with 66 investments only, followed by Barcelona with 39 and Munich with 32 venture rounds. Overall, three German cities (Berlin, Munich and Hamburg) made it into EY’s top 15.
