EDBRIEF: Entertainment Learning raises €900k Series A

Paris-based Entertainment Learning, the company behind ESL startup English Attack!, announced that it has completed a €900.000 financing round led by Cap Decisif Management with participation of Investessor, Val’Angels, Femmes Business Angels, Paris Business Angels, and WeLikeStartup. The round also includes an Innovation Loan from Bpifrance.

EDBRIEF: FutureLearn now hosts Largest MOOC – IELTS Preparation with the British Council

FutureLearn claims to host the largest MOOC to date with over 380.000 enlisted learners from 150 countries. With 1.6 million registered students on FutureLearn, nearly 25% have signed up for this particular MOOC.

HEDLINE: ABA English raises €2.5 million from Nauta Capital

Barcelona-based English learning platform ABA English (ABA stands for American & British Academy) raised €2.5 million from Nauta Capital.

The funding will be used to grow ABA English’s customer base in new markets and for the launch of mobile learning components.

Berlin-based Lingoda enters the crowded ESL Market with Online Language School Concept

Pili Pop (formerly Babble Planet) is a Paris-based startup that specializes in creating applications for young learners in the ESL space. The first version of their app for iPad showed some promising traction. With 50.000 downloads in 37 countries and 1.5 million English words mastered.
