London-based edtech startup pi-top has raised a £3.5 million Series A from Hambro Perks and Committed Capital. The three-year-old startup has raised a total of over £4.9 million to date.

EDBRIEF: CareerFoundry raises six-figure Seed Round

Berlin-based CareerFoundry raised a six-figure seed round led by Tengelmann Ventures with participation of Stefan Glänzer and Paul Föckler of Mendeley.

Last year the startup raised a €250.000 angel round from Glänzer, the new round brings the total funding into the seven digits.

EDBRIEF: BBC to give Personal Coding Devices to 1 million Students

The BBC announced that it will give free coding devices to every student in year 7 of UK schools in autumn 2015. The device is currently named Micro Bit, a reference to the BBC Micro which was put in UK schools in the 1980s.
