The leading German private tutoring company Studienkreis announced that it has acquired the website and technology of Tutoria, an online portal for private tutoring launched by publisher Holtzbrinck in 2007.
Studienkreis spokesperson Thomas Momotov told WAZ that the Tutoria GmbH remains with Holtzbrinck. Financial details of the deal have not been shared. The acquisition had the goal to grab existing market share as the German tutoring market is largely saturated.
According to Tutoria, 50.000 parents and students have booked over 1 million tutoring sessions via the portal since its launch in 2007. There are no concrete plans on how to implement Tutoria’s offering in the portfolio of Studienkreis.
Studienkreis has over 1000 on-site locations across Germany and offers online tutoring material as an addition to its brick and mortar group lessons.
