London-based Night Zookeeper, a digital art and literacy resource for students and teachers in K-12, raised a £335k Series A from a group of angel investors, London Business Angels and Angels Den Tech Club as well as a Big Venture Challenge grant.
Night Zookeeper previously raised £125.3k in seed funding from Wayra, Ascension Ventures Limited and angel investors. The new funding will be used to expand internationally.
First tested as a project in a school in 2007, Night Zookeeper now offers educational resources that can be downloaded and used in the classroom as well as digital products available on the web or as iOS apps.
With Night Zookeeper children enter a magical world in which they need to invent and draw animals that protect the night zoo from evil monsters. The game aims to foster creativity, imagination, storytelling and other related skills.
Besides its more consumer facing products, Night Zookeeper also offers an edition for use in schools. Night Zookeeper Classroom is an online scheme of work, linked to the National Curriculum in the UK. The product is currently used in over 5000 schools in the UK, Canada and Japan.
Along with the funding, Night Zookeeper launched a new version of its web based portal in public beta.
