Fantastec is an award-winning developer of educational games from Finland. Our Mission & Passion is to boost kids’ happiness and create great value for parents and educators with fun and educational games. We combine Finland’s games and educational expertise which are among the best of the world. According to several studies, game-based learning is the most effective way to learn for kids. If children like what they are doing then fantastic learning results will be achieved – and kids love games!

• Designed by Finnish teachers and game designers
• Visually beautiful, fun learning games
• Include comprehensive progress tracking and learning reports
• Include quick links for specific skills to learn

Wonder Bunny games are recommended for all 4-140 year old kids.

Who are the founders, how did you meet, what are your different roles in the startup.

Fantastec Founder Juha Väisänen
Juha Väisänen

Founder, CEO Juha Väisänen is a former teacher and serial entrepreneur, who has won several innovation awards.

How was the idea for your startup born?

CEO Juha Väisänen saw how his 5-year old goddaughter played a violent online game. Juha started to search for better alternatives, and when did not find kids games which are both fun and educational, decided to start Fantastec.

What is the main problem in education that you aim to solve.

As Trip Hawkins, Founder of Electronic Arts & kids game developer If You Can said last year: There are still very few kids games with real value.

Existing educational games are mostly boring and done only to educate, not to entertain, which is important for children.

Who are your competitors? What sets you apart from them?

All (educational) content developers. Our Wonder Bunny learning game series is more appealing for kids and parents alike, since Wonder Bunny games are visually beautiful, include strong narrative elements and rewarding gameplay, and are also highly educational.

In which markets / regions are you active. What markets / regions are next.

Wonder Bunny games are sold worldwide. Next, we will conquer the Universe.

Who is your target audience.

Wonder Bunny games are recommended for all 4-140 year old kids. Also, parents and schools are our target audience, since they decide what to purchase.

How do you engage with your target audience. How do you convert them into users of your product.

Visually beautiful characters and game environments, strong narrative elements, fun game rewards like wacky vehicles, and incentives to continue playing after the initial sessions.

What is your business model. How much does your product / service cost.

Wonder Bunny learning games are available to download and test for free (first game tracks), but most of the content can be unlocked only by purchasing players.

For schools we also have advanced paid versions.

If you raised funding, how much did you raise. Who are your investors. If not, are you planning to raise funding.

So far, Fantastec has raised almost 1M EUR from several angel investors. And a new funding round is coming.

Are there milestones you are especially proud of and would like to share.

Yes, there is several of those. The latest ones are the win of the eEemeli e-learning competition a couple of weeks ago, and achieving a perfect 5-star rating from the Educational App Store (UK).

We also made several partnerships with leading edutech, media and publishing companies, including one of the largest European edu-publishers, Sanoma Oy, and Samsung kids tablets in Asia.

What are the next steps in growing your startup.

A new funding round is the most important step in order to grow.

How can people get in touch with you.
