London requires English Language Test for Uber Drivers

Uber is facing new trouble in Europe. This time, Public Transport Body for London (TfL) wants to require Uber drivers pass an English language test among other regulations that it originally intended to implement Oct. 1st.

However, Uber has now won the right to take TfL to court in order to challenge these possible new regulations.

HEDLINE: TES Global Survery finds Classroom Tech hits Mainstream

Digital education company TES Global presented the results of its first international teacher survey at SXSWedu this week.

Key findings include that 96% of teachers in the U.S and 94% of teachers worldwide who responded to the survey state that technology plays an important role in their classrooms, and 69% now use open resources more often than textbooks.

TES Global appoints Rob Grimshaw as CEO

TES Global (formerly TSL Education) announced that current COO Rob Grimshaw will become the company’s CEO on March 31st 2015. Current CEO Louise Rogers will take the role of Chair.

Babbel opens Office in the United States

Berlin, Germany based language learning startup Babbel announced the opening of its first overseas office in New York. Babbel co-founder and President Thomas Holl will head operations in the United States.

The opening will mark Babbel’s official entry in the U.S. language learning market which started in March 2013 with the acquisition of PlaySay. PlaySay’s founder Ryan Meinzer joined Babbel as advisor for the U.S. market.

Cambridge University Press partners with Edmodo

Cambridge University Press and Edmodo announced a partnership that will exclusively integrate Cambridge’s GCSE content in Edmodo’s assessment tool Snapshot. The partnership will initially focus on schools in England.
